Facilities Manager

Congregation Rodef Shalom, a thriving, community-centered synagogue and preschool is looking to add a skilled and experienced Facilities Manager to our team. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a collaborative team and is a hard worker who also enjoys the opportunity for joyful moments.  

Position Description  

The Facilities Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the Rodef Shalom Community has a safe, secure, functioning, clean, and welcoming space in which to learn, pray, work, and meet. Our campus is composed of two separate buildings spanning one city block. Our primary building is routinely utilized for over 60+ hours a week and serves members and families at least 6 days a week.  

This position requires an ability to work both independently and collaboratively to handle varied requests and effectively manage short and long-term projects. In addition, this role requires the ability to perform basic maintenance and building repairs as well as moving tables and chairs for room set up as needed.     

This full-time, at-will, and salaried position reports to the Executive Director.  

This position requires a flexible schedule, with the understanding that Jewish holidays, special events, and Saturdays will be a part of the regular schedule.  

Some of the essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:  

Security:  

Responsible for Building Access. Will structure time to best manage building access (who enters the building) during the busiest times of the school week and will coordinate with other staff to manage building access during off hours.  

Will circulate the property 1-2 times during the day both with an eye toward security and maintenance.   

Collaborate with the Executive Director on security protocols.  Coordinate with security and fire system vendors.  

Closes the building at night if the last person to leave the building.  

Responsible for ensuring a safe physical environment free from physical impediments that might cause injuries by making the needed repairs or removing dangerous objects. 

Building and Vendor Management: 

Coordinate with custodial/cleaning staff to ensure cleaning needs are met.  

Monitor the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as classrooms, sanctuary, offices, parking lots, and playground/meditation garden.  

Perform minor maintenance on facilities and make repairs as needed.  

Assemble newly purchased items as needed (bookshelves, preschool classroom enhancements, etc.) 

Schedule routine maintenance and emergency repairs with outside vendors 

Light grounds work, including lawn/tree/bush maintenance and winter sidewalk clearance when lawn care/snow removal vendor is not available. (Coordinate with custodial staff and vendors.)  

Collaborating with Executive Director on budgeting for facilities needs and project bids.  

Routinely inspect facility and grounds to examine for damage or wear. Determine priority of repair tasks, action plan, and timeline, materials needed, etc. 

Point of contact for all maintenance issues  

Supervise and manage facility-related vendors 

Utilizing the capital study, create a schedule for maintenance and a long-term plan for building support coordinating with the Executive Director 

Oversee and coordinate room/building setup 

Including events and holiday setup including Friday and Saturday religious services and holidays. 

Assist with logistical coordination of special events, holidays, and services.   

Support AV Technology: Work closely with volunteers who currently manage AV and understand how systems work as needed.  

Additional Responsibilities: 

Attend Shabbat, Holiday, and other special events as needed to build relationships and provide additional staff support.  

Qualifications:  

5+ years of experience working in facilities or maintenance  

An ability to complete basic repairs/maintenance as needed.  

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of deadlines 

Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

Ability to lift heavy objects of at least 50 lbs

Preschool Opportunities

The Rodef Shalom Preschool in Denver, CO seeks experienced early childhood teachers to join our wonderful staff for the 2023/2024 school year. Rodef Shalom Preschool was established to meet the needs of young children and their families. In our safe, child-centered, nurturing, Jewish environment, we emphasize the whole child in all areas of development: social, emotional, physical, cognitive and Judaic. Our classes are small to ensure optimal learning experiences. Through exploration and play in a developmentally appropriate program, children will have the opportunity to thrive and grow, to have fun and enjoy themselves while developing a curiosity for and love of learning. Rodef Shalom is committed to providing a high-quality early childhood program so that each child may reach their fullest potential.

While Judaic programming is an important part of our curriculum, we are committed to respecting and validating the religious and cultural background of each child and family to help guide all children enrolled in Rodef Shalom Preschool toward an awareness of who they are as individuals and as members of the larger community in which they live.

Our Ideal Teacher:

· Is Lead Teacher qualified in Colorado (Candidates with High School Diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply)

· Has previous experience teaching in an early childhood setting (Candidates can substitute work experience for education)

· Possesses the ability to work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and supervisors

· Loves working with children

· Ability to be an active participant in the care and safety of young children, including lifting and attending to their personal care.

We offer full day and part day programs from 7:30-5:30 M-TH/4:00 Fridays
