Toward a Journey of Interfaith Understanding

Thursday, March 22, 2018 6 Nisan 5778

11:00 AM - 12:00 PMLibrary

How do a devout African-American minister and a traditional rabbi find common understanding and pursue social justice together, in the spirit of “Tzedek Tzedek Tirdof”? Our speakers will share their own stories and then reflect on the work they have done in partnership, which includes offering up a “theology of resistance,” and actions around immigration, healthcare, and labor. Questions and discussion will be invited and encouraged. Dr. Anne Rice- Jones is an Ordained Pastor. Her faith traditions are shaped by the tenets of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She is a Life member of the NAACP., and believes it is imperative to be a part of the solution to systematic issues prevalent in our society. Her leadership focuses on justice, freedom and equality for all people. Rabbi Bernard Gerson is the spiritual leader of Congregation Rodef Shalom, and teaches Judaic Studies at Denver Jewish Day School. In his community work, he views his mission as being an ambassador of compassion. Rev. Rice-Jones and Rabbi Gerson co-lead the Metro Denver Faith Leaders Caucus of Together Colorado, and have been active in community organizing for over five years. In cooperation with Kavod On the Road. Free, however, RSVPs are appreciated! Co-presented by Rev. Dr. Anne Rice-Jones and Rabbi Gerson.
